Issue 9: "I was Just Checking the Water"
by the Paranoid Sisters

Lisa's neighbors bought a small dough boy pool. All the kids were gathered around while they put it up and filled it with water. It was all we could do to keep them out of it until it was full. Knowing we are the Paranoid Sisters, the neighbors quickly pulled Lisa aside to let her know that the side yard gate that accessed the pool would be kept padlocked.
Exactly one week later, the kids were playing in the court. Lisa saw Jon's bike (Jon is her 3-1/2 year old son) in front of the house with the new pool -- but he was nowhere to be seen. She ran to the neighbor's door and knocked and rang the bell. No answer. She ran back to her
house and then back to the neighbors.
After 2-3 minutes, the garage doord and Lisa asked if the neighbor would check her house for Jon. After another mind-numbing 2-3 minutes, here came the neighbor with Jon. When Lisa held Jon's hand she noticed it was wet. She asked Jon why his hand was wet and he said "I was checking the water in the pool." As it turned out, the gate had been left unlocked that da,y so the pest control man would be able to spray.
The neighbor was very apologetic and we were both thankful that a good lesson was learned with
no tragic outcome.
