Safety Audit
Issue 12: Things That Swing
by the Paranoid Sisters
Most of us look at child proofing like we look at an IRS audit: we hope
we never have to go through it. If we do, we hope it only happens once.
Have you ever looked around your once child proofed house and noticed the many
hazards that have piled up like your laundry. As we do a safety tune-up (yes,
even the Paranoid Sisters need safety tune-ups) we take you with us.
http://www.himchist.ruSpringtime is here and it means kids outside playing. Since we already had
our first accident, we thought it would be a good time to review a couple of
things that swing. Jon (one of the twins) walked behind Stephen (his older
brother by 17 minutes) as he was swinging. He got hit right in the mouth. It
was quite the commotion. The older sisters were trying to administer first
aide, Stephen Sr. was trying to extract critical crime scene data, and I was
realizing the safe days of winter and quiet indoor activities were over. The
"staying clear of the swings" discussion lead into the "staying
away from bats when playing baseball" discussion. The batter needs to be
safe also. Teach your kids that you only swing the bat when you make sure that
no one is lurking around waiting to get a close up inspection of the writing
on the bat as you swing for that homerun hit.
Happy Spring!!
